Relationship of Individuals with Society


  1. Sura: 4 - an-Nisaa' (The Women) Ayat: 83

    وَإِذَا جَاءَهُمْ أَمْرٌ مِنَ الْأَمْنِ أَوِ الْخَوْفِ أَذَاعُوا بِهِ ۖ وَلَوْ رَدُّوهُ إِلَى الرَّسُولِ وَإِلَىٰ أُولِي الْأَمْرِ مِنْهُمْ لَعَلِمَهُ الَّذِينَ يَسْتَنْبِطُونَهُ مِنْهُمْ ۗ وَلَوْلَا فَضْلُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَتُهُ لَاتَّبَعْتُمُ الشَّيْطَانَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا (83

    اور جب ان کے پاس امن یا خوف کی خبر آتی ہے تو فورا نشر کردیتے ہیں حالانکہ اگر رسول اور صاحبانِ امر کی طرف پلٹا دیتے تو ان سے استفادہ کرنے والے حقیقت حال کا علم پیدا کرلیتے اور اگر تم لوگوں پر خدا کا فضل اور ا سکی رحمت نہ ہوتی تو چند افراد کے علاوہ سب شیطان کا اتباع کرلیتے

    [YOUSAF ALI] When there comes to them some matter touching (Public) safety or fear, they divulge it. If they had only referred it to the Messenger, or to those charged with authority among them, the proper investigators would have Tested it from them (direct). Were it not for the Grace and Mercy of Allah unto you, all but a few of you would have fallen into the clutches of Satan.

    [ PICKTHAL ] And if any tidings, whether of safety or fear, come unto them, they noise it abroad, whereas if they had referred it to the messenger and to such of them as are in authority, those among them who are able to think out the matter would have known it. If it had not been for the grace of Allah upon you and His mercy ye would have followed Satan, save a few (of you).

    [ SHAKIR ] And when there comes to them news of security or fear they spread it abroad; and if they had referred it to the Messenger and to those in authority among them, those among them who can search out the knowledge of it would have known it, and were it not for the grace of Allah upon you and His mercy, you would have certainly followed the Shaitan save a few


  2. Sura: 33 - al-Ahzaab (The Clans) Ayat: 36

    وَمَا كَانَ لِمُؤْمِنٍ وَلَا مُؤْمِنَةٍ إِذَا قَضَى اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَمْرًا أَنْ يَكُونَ لَهُمُ الْخِيَرَةُ مِنْ أَمْرِهِمْ ۗ وَمَنْ يَعْصِ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ ضَلَالًا مُبِينًا (36

    اور کسی مومن مرد یا عورت کو اختیار نہیں ہے کہ جب خدا و رسول کسی امر کے بارے میں فیصلہ کردیں تو وہ بھی اپنے امر کے بارے میں صاحبِ اختیار بن جائے اور جو بھی خدا و رسول کی نافرمانی کرے گا وہ بڑی کھاَلی ہوئی گمراہی میں مبتلا ہوگا

    [YOUSAF ALI] It is not fitting for a Believer, man or woman, when a matter has been decided by Allah and His Messenger to have any option about their decision: if any one disobeys Allah and His Messenger, he is indeed on a clearly wrong Path.

    [ PICKTHAL ] And it becometh not a believing man or a believing woman, when Allah and His messenger have decided an affair (for them), that they should (after that) claim any say in their affair; and whoso is rebellious to Allah and His messenger, he verily goeth astray in error manifest.

    [ SHAKIR ] And it behoves not a believing man and a believing woman that they should have any choice in their matter when Allah and His Messenger have decided a matter; and whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger, he surely strays off a manifest straying.


  3. Sura: 49 - al-Hujraat (The Inner Apartments) From Ayat: 6 to 7

    يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِنْ جَاءَكُمْ فَاسِقٌ بِنَبَإٍ فَتَبَيَّنُوا أَنْ تُصِيبُوا قَوْمًا بِجَهَالَةٍ فَتُصْبِحُوا عَلَىٰ مَا فَعَلْتُمْ نَادِمِينَ (6

    ایمان والو اگر کوئی فاسق کوئی خبر لے کر آئے تو اس کی تحقیق کرو ایسا نہ ہو کہ کسی قوم تک ناواقفیت میں پہنچ جاؤ اور اس کے بعد اپنے اقدام پر شرمندہ ہونا پڑے

    [YOUSAF ALI] O ye who believe! If a wicked person comes to you with any news, ascertain the truth, lest ye harm people unwittingly, and afterwards become full of repentance for what ye have done.

    [ PICKTHAL ] O ye who believe! If an evil-liver bring you tidings, verify it, lest ye smite some folk in ignorance and afterward repent of what ye did.

    [ SHAKIR ] O you who believe! if an evil-doer comes to you with a report, look carefully into it, lest you harm a people in ignorance, then be sorry for what you have done.


  4. Sura: 49 - al-Hujraat (The Inner Apartments) From Ayat: 6 to 7

    وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ فِيكُمْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ۚ لَوْ يُطِيعُكُمْ فِي كَثِيرٍ مِنَ الْأَمْرِ لَعَنِتُّمْ وَلَٰكِنَّ اللَّهَ حَبَّبَ إِلَيْكُمُ الْإِيمَانَ وَزَيَّنَهُ فِي قُلُوبِكُمْ وَكَرَّهَ إِلَيْكُمُ الْكُفْرَ وَالْفُسُوقَ وَالْعِصْيَانَ ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الرَّاشِدُونَ (7

    "اور یاد رکھو کہ تمہارے درمیان خدا کا رسول موجود ہے یہ اگر بہت سی باتوں میں تمہاری بات مان لیتا تو تم زحمت میں پڑ جاتے لیکن خدا نے تمہارے لئے ایمان کو محبوب بنادیا ہے اور اسے تمہارے دلوں میں آراستہ کردیا ہے اور کفر, فسق اور معصیت کو تمہارے لئے ناپسندیدہ قرار دے دیا ہے اور درحقیقت یہی لوگ ہدایت یافتہ ہیں"

    [YOUSAF ALI] And know that among you is Allah's Messenger: were he, in many matters, to follow your (wishes), ye would certainly fall into misfortune: But Allah has endeared the Faith to you, and has made it beautiful in your hearts, and He has made hateful to you Unbelief, wickedness, and rebellion: such indeed are those who walk in righteousness;-

    [ PICKTHAL ] And know that the messenger of Allah is among you. If he were to obey you in much of the government, ye would surely be in trouble; but Allah hath endeared the faith to you and hath beautified it in your hearts, and hath made disbelief and lewdness and rebellion hateful unto you. Such are they who are the rightly guided.

    [ SHAKIR ] And know that among you is Allah's Messenger; should he obey you in many a matter, you would surely fall into distress, but Allah has endeared the faith to you and has made it seemly in your hearts, and He has made hateful to you unbelief and transgression and disobedience; these it is that are the followers of a right way.
