  1. Sura: 2 - al-Baqara (The Cow) Ayat: 256

[YOUSAF ALI] Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things.

[ PICKTHAL ] There is no compulsion in religion. The right direction is henceforth distinct from error. And he who rejecteth false deities and believeth in Allah hath grasped a firm handhold which will never break. Allah is Hearer, Knower.

[ SHAKIR ] There is no compulsion in religion; truly the right way has become clearly distinct from error; therefore, whoever disbelieves in the Shaitan and believes in Allah he indeed has laid hold on the firmest handle, which shall not break off, and Allah is Hearing, Knowing.

  2. Sura: 6 - al-An`aam (The Cattle) Ayat: 149

[YOUSAF ALI] Say: "With Allah is the argument that reaches home: if it had been His will, He could indeed have guided you all."

[ PICKTHAL ] Say - For Allah's is the final argument - Had He willed He could indeed have guided all of you.

[ SHAKIR ] Say: Then Allah's is the conclusive argument; so if He please, He would certainly guide you all.

  3. Sura: 10 - Yunus (Jonas) From Ayat: 15 to 17

[YOUSAF ALI] But when Our Clear Signs are rehearsed unto them, those who rest not their hope on their meeting with Us, Say: "Bring us a reading other than this, or change this," Say: "It is not for me, of my own accord, to change it: I follow naught but what is revealed unto me: if I were to disobey my Lord, I should myself fear the penalty of a Great Day (to come)."

[ PICKTHAL ] And when Our clear revelations are recited unto them, they who look not for the meeting with Us say: Bring a Lecture other than this, or change it. Say (O Muhammad): It is not for me to change it of my accord. I only follow that which is inspired in me. Lo! if I disobey my Lord I fear the retribution of an awful Day.

[ SHAKIR ] And when Our clear communications are recited to them, those who hope not for Our meeting say: Bring a Quran other than this or change it. Say: It does not beseem me that I should change it of myself; I follow naught but what is revealed to me; surely I fear, if I disobey my Lord, the punishment of a mighty day.

  4. Sura: 10 - Yunus (Jonas) From Ayat: 15 to 17

[YOUSAF ALI] Say: "If Allah had so willed, I should not have rehearsed it to you, nor would He have made it known to you. A whole life-time before this have I tarried amongst you: will ye not then understand?"

[ PICKTHAL ] Say: If Allah had so willed I should not have recited it to you nor would He have made it known to you. I dwelt among you a whole lifetime before it (came to me). Have ye then no sense?

[ SHAKIR ] Say: If Allah had desired (otherwise) I would not have recited it to you, nor would He have taught it to you; indeed I have lived a lifetime among you before it; do you not then understand?

  5. Sura: 10 - Yunus (Jonas) From Ayat: 15 to 17

[YOUSAF ALI] Who doth more wrong than such as forge a lie against Allah, or deny His Signs? But never will prosper those who sin.

[ PICKTHAL ] Who doeth greater wrong than he who inventeth a lie concerning Allah and denieth His revelations? Lo! the guilty never are successful.

[ SHAKIR ] Who is then more unjust than who forges a lie against Allah or (who) gives the lie to His communications? Surely the guilty shall not be successful.

  6. Sura: 10 - Yunus (Jonas) Ayat: 35

[YOUSAF ALI] Say: "Of your 'partners' is there any that can give any guidance towards truth?" Say: "It is Allah Who gives guidance towards truth, is then He Who gives guidance to truth more worthy to be followed, or he who finds not guidance (himself) unless he is guided? what then is the matter with you? How judge ye?"

[ PICKTHAL ] Say: Is there of your partners (whom ye ascribe unto Allah) one that leadeth to the Truth? Say: Allah leadeth to the Truth. Is He Who leadeth to the Truth more deserving that He should be followed, or he who findeth not the way unless he (himself) be guided. What aileth you? How judge ye?

[ SHAKIR ] Say: Is there any of your associates who guides to the truth? Say: Allah guides to the truth. Is He then Who guides to the truth more worthy to be followed, or he who himself does not go aright unless he is guided? What then is the matter with you; how do you judge?

  7. Sura: 16 - an-Nahl (The Bee) Ayat: 9

[YOUSAF ALI] And unto Allah leads straight the Way, but there are ways that turn aside: if Allah had willed, He could have guided all of you.

[ PICKTHAL ] And Allah's is the direction of the way, and some (roads) go not straight. And had He willed He would have led you all aright.

[ SHAKIR ] And upon Allah it rests to show the right way, and there are some deviating (ways); and if He please He would certainly guide you all aright.

  8. Sura: 17 - al-Israa' (The Night Journey) Ayat: 89

[YOUSAF ALI] And We have explained to man, in this Qur'an, every kind of similitude: yet the greater part of men refuse (to receive it) except with ingratitude!

[ PICKTHAL ] And verily We have displayed for mankind in this Qur'an all kind of similitudes, but most of mankind refuse aught save disbelief.

[ SHAKIR ] And certainly We have explained for men in this Quran every kind of similitude, but most men do not consent to aught but denying.

  9. Sura: 23 - al-Mu'minoon (The Believers) From Ayat: 82 to 89

[YOUSAF ALI] They say: "What! when we die and become dust and bones, could we really be raised up again?

[ PICKTHAL ] They say: When we are dead and have become (mere) dust and bones, shall we then, forsooth, be raised again?

[ SHAKIR ] They say: What! When we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we then be raised?

  10. Sura: 23 - al-Mu'minoon (The Believers) From Ayat: 82 to 89

[YOUSAF ALI] "Such things have been promised to us and to our fathers before! they are nothing but tales of the ancients!"

[ PICKTHAL ] We were already promised this, we and our forefathers. Lo! this is naught but fables of the men of old.

[ SHAKIR ] Certainly we are promised this, and (so were) our fathers aforetime; this is naught but stories of those of old.

  11. Sura: 23 - al-Mu'minoon (The Believers) From Ayat: 82 to 89

[YOUSAF ALI] Say: "To whom belong the earth and all beings therein? (say) if ye know!"

[ PICKTHAL ] Say: Unto Whom (belongeth) the earth and whosoever is therein, if ye have knowledge?

[ SHAKIR ] Say: Whose is the earth, and whoever is therein, if you know?

  12. Sura: 23 - al-Mu'minoon (The Believers) From Ayat: 82 to 89

[YOUSAF ALI] They will say, "To Allah!" say: "Yet will ye not receive admonition?"

[ PICKTHAL ] They will say: Unto Allah. Say: Will ye not then remember?

[ SHAKIR ] They will say: Allah's. Say: Will you not then mind?

  13. Sura: 23 - al-Mu'minoon (The Believers) From Ayat: 82 to 89

[YOUSAF ALI] Say: "Who is the Lord of the seven heavens, and the Lord of the Throne (of Glory) Supreme?"

[ PICKTHAL ] Say: Who is Lord of the seven heavens, and Lord of the Tremendous Throne?

[ SHAKIR ] Say: Who is the Lord of the seven heavens and the Lord of the mighty dominion?

  14. Sura: 23 - al-Mu'minoon (The Believers) From Ayat: 82 to 89

[YOUSAF ALI] They will say, "(They belong) to Allah." Say: "Will ye not then be filled with awe?"

[ PICKTHAL ] They will say: Unto Allah (all that belongeth). Say: Will ye not then keep duty (unto Him)?

[ SHAKIR ] They will say: (This is) Allah's. Say: Will you not then guard (against evil)?

  15. Sura: 23 - al-Mu'minoon (The Believers) From Ayat: 82 to 89

[YOUSAF ALI] Say: "Who is it in whose hands is the governance of all things,- who protects (all), but is not protected (of any)? (say) if ye know."

[ PICKTHAL ] Say: In Whose hand is the dominion over all things and He protecteth, while against Him there is no protection, if ye have knowledge?

[ SHAKIR ] Say: Who is it in Whose hand is the kingdom of all things and Who gives succor, but against Him Succor is not given, if you do but know?

  16. Sura: 23 - al-Mu'minoon (The Believers) From Ayat: 82 to 89

[YOUSAF ALI] They will say, "(It belongs) to Allah." Say: "Then how are ye deluded?"

[ PICKTHAL ] They will say: Unto Allah (all that belongeth). Say: How then are ye bewitched?

[ SHAKIR ] They will say: (This is) Allah's. Say: From whence are you then deceived?

  17. Sura: 27 - an-Naml (The Ant) From Ayat: 59 to 66

[YOUSAF ALI] Say: Praise be to Allah, and Peace on his servants whom He has chosen (for his Message). (Who) is better?- Allah or the false gods they associate (with Him)?

[ PICKTHAL ] Say (O Muhammad): Praise be to Allah, and peace be on His slaves whom He hath chosen! Is Allah best, or (all) that ye ascribe as partners (unto Him)?

[ SHAKIR ] Say: Praise be to Allah and peace on His servants whom He has chosen: is Allah better, or what they associate (with Him)?

  18. Sura: 27 - an-Naml (The Ant) From Ayat: 59 to 66

[YOUSAF ALI] Or, Who has created the heavens and the earth, and Who sends you down rain from the sky? Yea, with it We cause to grow well-planted orchards full of beauty of delight: it is not in your power to cause the growth of the trees in them. (Can there be another) god besides Allah? Nay, they are a people who swerve from justice.

[ PICKTHAL ] Is not He (best) Who created the heavens and the earth, and sendeth down for you water from the sky wherewith We cause to spring forth joyous orchards, whose trees it never hath been yours to cause to grow. Is there any Allah beside Allah? Nay, but they are folk who ascribe equals (unto Him)!

[ SHAKIR ] Nay, He Who created the heavens and the earth, and sent down for you water from the cloud; then We cause to grow thereby beautiful gardens; it is not possible for you that you should make the trees thereof to grow. Is there a god with Allah? Nay! they are people who deviate.

  19. Sura: 27 - an-Naml (The Ant) From Ayat: 59 to 66

[YOUSAF ALI] Or, Who has made the earth firm to live in; made rivers in its midst; set thereon mountains immovable; and made a separating bar between the two bodies of flowing water? (can there be another) god besides Allah? Nay, most of them know not.

[ PICKTHAL ] Is not He (best) Who made the earth a fixed abode, and placed rivers in the folds thereof, and placed firm hills therein, and hath set a barrier between the two seas? Is there any Allah beside Allah? Nay, but most of them know not!

[ SHAKIR ] Or, Who made the earth a restingplace, and made in it rivers, and raised on it mountains and placed between the two seas a barrier. Is there a god with Allah? Nay! most of them do not know!

  20. Sura: 27 - an-Naml (The Ant) From Ayat: 59 to 66

[YOUSAF ALI] Or, Who listens to the (soul) distressed when it calls on Him, and Who relieves its suffering, and makes you (mankind) inheritors of the earth? (Can there be another) god besides Allah? Little it is that ye heed!

[ PICKTHAL ] Is not He (best) Who answereth the wronged one when he crieth unto Him and removeth the evil, and hath made you viceroys of the earth? Is there any Allah beside Allah? Little do they reflect!

[ SHAKIR ] Or, Who answers the distressed one when he calls upon Him and removes the evil, and He will make you successors in the earth. Is there a god with Allah? Little is it that you mind!

  21. Sura: 27 - an-Naml (The Ant) From Ayat: 59 to 66

[YOUSAF ALI] Or, Who guides you through the depths of darkness on land and sea, and Who sends the winds as heralds of glad tidings, going before His Mercy? (Can there be another) god besides Allah?- High is Allah above what they associate with Him!

[ PICKTHAL ] Is not He (best) Who guideth you in the darkness of the land and the sea, He Who sendeth the winds as heralds of His mercy? Is there any Allah beside Allah? High Exalted be Allah from all that they ascribe as partner (unto Him)!

[ SHAKIR ] Or, Who guides you in utter darkness of the land and the sea, and Who sends the winds as good news before His mercy. Is there a god with Allah? Exalted by Allah above what they associate (with Him).

  22. Sura: 27 - an-Naml (The Ant) From Ayat: 59 to 66

[YOUSAF ALI] Or, Who originates creation, then repeats it, and who gives you sustenance from heaven and earth? (Can there be another) god besides Allah? Say, "Bring forth your argument, if ye are telling the truth!"

[ PICKTHAL ] Is not He (best) Who produceth creation, then reproduceth it, and Who provideth for you from the heaven and the earth? Is there any Allah beside Allah? Say: Bring your proof, if ye are truthful!

[ SHAKIR ] Or, Who originates the creation, then reproduces it and Who gives you sustenance from the heaven and the earth. Is there a god With Allah? Say: Bring your proof if you are truthful.

  23. Sura: 27 - an-Naml (The Ant) From Ayat: 59 to 66

[YOUSAF ALI] Say: None in the heavens or on earth, except Allah, knows what is hidden: nor can they perceive when they shall be raised up (for Judgment).

[ PICKTHAL ] Say (O Muhammad): None in the heavens and the earth knoweth the Unseen save Allah; and they know not when they will be raised (again).

[ SHAKIR ] Say: No one in the heavens and the earth knows the unseen but Allah; and they do not know when they shall be raised.

  24. Sura: 27 - an-Naml (The Ant) From Ayat: 59 to 66

[YOUSAF ALI] Still less can their knowledge comprehend the Hereafter: Nay, they are in doubt and uncertainty thereanent; nay, they are blind thereunto!

[ PICKTHAL ] Nay, but doth their knowledge reach to the Hereafter? Nay, for they are in doubt concerning it. Nay, for they cannot see it.

[ SHAKIR ] Nay, their knowledge respecting the hereafter is slight and hasty; nay, they are in doubt about it; nay, they are quite blind to it

  25. Sura: 27 - an-Naml (The Ant) From Ayat: 67 to 69

[YOUSAF ALI] The Unbelievers say: "What! when we become dust,- we and our fathers,- shall we really be raised (from the dead)?

[ PICKTHAL ] Yet those who disbelieve say: When we have become dust like our fathers, shall we verily be brought forth (again)?

[ SHAKIR ] And those who disbelieve say: What! when we have become dust and our fathers (too), shall we certainly be brought forth?

  26. Sura: 27 - an-Naml (The Ant) From Ayat: 67 to 69

[YOUSAF ALI] "It is true we were promised this,- we and our fathers before (us): these are nothing but tales of the ancients."

[ PICKTHAL ] We were promised this, forsooth, we and our fathers. (All) this is naught but fables of the men of old.

[ SHAKIR ] We have certainly been promised this, we and our fathers before; these are naught but stories of the ancients

  27. Sura: 27 - an-Naml (The Ant) From Ayat: 67 to 69

[YOUSAF ALI] Say: "Go ye through the earth and see what has been the end of those guilty (of sin)."

[ PICKTHAL ] Say (unto them, O Muhammad): Travel in the land and see the nature of the sequel for the guilty!

[ SHAKIR ] Say: Travel in the earth, then see how was the end of the guilty.

  28. Sura: 30 - ar-Room (The Romans) From Ayat: 8 to 9

[YOUSAF ALI] Do they not reflect in their own minds? Not but for just ends and for a term appointed, did Allah create the heavens and the earth, and all between them: yet are there truly many among men who deny the meeting with their Lord (at the Resurrection)!

[ PICKTHAL ] Have they not pondered upon themselves? Allah created not the heavens and the earth, and that which is between them, save with truth and for a destined end. But truly many of mankind are disbelievers in the meeting with their Lord.

[ SHAKIR ] Do they not reflect within themselves: Allah did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them two but with truth, and (for) an appointed term? And most surely most of the people are deniers of the meeting of their Lord.

  29. Sura: 30 - ar-Room (The Romans) From Ayat: 8 to 9

[YOUSAF ALI] Do they not travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those before them? They were superior to them in strength: they tilled the soil and populated it in greater numbers than these have done: there came to them their messengers with Clear (Signs). (Which they rejected, to their own destruction): It was not Allah Who wronged them, but they wronged their own souls.

[ PICKTHAL ] Have they not travelled in the land and seen the nature of the consequence for those who were before them? They were stronger than these in power, and they dug the earth and built upon it more than these have built. Messengers of their own came unto them with clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty). Surely Allah wronged them not, but they did wrong themselves.

[ SHAKIR ] Have they not travelled in the earth and seen how was the end of those before them? They were stronger than these in prowess, and dug up the earth, and built on it in greater abundance than these have built on it, and there came to them their messengers with clear arguments; so it was not beseeming for Allah that He should deal with them unjustly, but they dealt unjustly with their own souls.

  30. Sura: 30 - ar-Room (The Romans) Ayat: 19

[YOUSAF ALI] It is He Who brings out the living from the dead, and brings out the dead from the living, and Who gives life to the earth after it is dead: and thus shall ye be brought out (from the dead).

[ PICKTHAL ] He bringeth forth the living from the dead, and He bringeth forth the dead from the living, and He reviveth the earth after her death. And even so will ye be brought forth.

[ SHAKIR ] He brings forth the living from the dead and brings forth the dead from the living, and gives life to the earth after its death, and thus shall you be brought forth.

  31. Sura: 30 - ar-Room (The Romans) Ayat: 24

[YOUSAF ALI] And among His Signs, He shows you the lightning, by way both of fear and of hope, and He sends down rain from the sky and with it gives life to the earth after it is dead: verily in that are Signs for those who are wise.

[ PICKTHAL ] And of His signs is this: He showeth you the lightning for a fear and for a hope, and sendeth down water from the sky, and thereby quickeneth the earth after her death. Lo! herein indeed are portents for folk who understand.

[ SHAKIR ] And one of His signs is that He shows you the lightning for fear and for hope, and sends down water from the clouds then gives life therewith to the earth after its death; most surely there are signs in this for a people who understand

  32. Sura: 34 - Saba (Sheba) From Ayat: 30 to 46

[YOUSAF ALI] Say: "The appointment to you is for a Day, which ye cannot put back for an hour nor put forward."

[ PICKTHAL ] Say (O Muhammad): Yours is the promise of a Day which ye cannot postpone nor hasten by an hour.

[ SHAKIR ] Say: You have the appointment of a day from which you cannot hold back any while, nor can you bring it on.

  33. Sura: 34 - Saba (Sheba) From Ayat: 30 to 46

[YOUSAF ALI] The Unbelievers say: "We shall neither believe in this scripture nor in (any) that (came) before it." Couldst thou but see when the wrong-doers will be made to stand before their Lord, throwing back the word (of blame) on one another! Those who had been despised will say to the arrogant ones: "Had it not been for you, we should certainly have been believers!"

[ PICKTHAL ] And those who disbelieve say: We believe not in this Qur'an nor in that which was before it; but oh, if thou couldst see, when the wrong-doers are brought up before their Lord, how they cast the blame one to another; how those who were despised (in the earth) say unto those who were proud: But for you, we should have been believers.

[ SHAKIR ] And those who disbelieve say: By no means will we believe in this Quran, nor in that which is before it; and could you see when the unjust shall be made to stand before their Lord, bandying words one with another! Those who were reckoned weak shall say to those who were proud: Had it not been for you we would certainly have been believers.

  34. Sura: 34 - Saba (Sheba) From Ayat: 30 to 46

[YOUSAF ALI] The arrogant ones will say to those who had been despised: "Was it we who kept you back from Guidance after it reached you? Nay, rather, it was ye who transgressed.

[ PICKTHAL ] Those who were proud say unto those who were despised: Did we drive you away from the guidance after it had come unto you? Nay, but ye were guilty.

[ SHAKIR ] Those who were proud shall say to those who were deemed weak: Did we turn you away from the guidance after it had come to you? Nay, you (yourselves) were guilty

  35. Sura: 34 - Saba (Sheba) From Ayat: 30 to 46

[YOUSAF ALI] Those who had been despised will say to the arrogant ones: "Nay! it was a plot (of yours) by day and by night: Behold! Ye (constantly) ordered us to be ungrateful to Allah and to attribute equals to Him!" They will declare (their) repentance when they see the Penalty: We shall put yokes on the necks of the Unbelievers: It would only be a requital for their (ill) Deeds.

[ PICKTHAL ] Those who were despised say unto those who were proud: Nay but (it was your) scheming night and day, when ye commanded us to disbelieve in Allah and set up rivals unto Him. And they are filled with remorse when they behold the doom; and We place carcans on the necks of those who disbelieved. Are they requited aught save what they used to do?

[ SHAKIR ] And those who were deemed weak shall say to those who were proud. Nay, (it was) planning by night and day when you told us to disbelieve in Allah and to set up likes with Him. And they shall conceal regret when they shall see the punishment; and We will put shackles on the necks of those who disbelieved; they shall not be requited but what they did.

  36. Sura: 34 - Saba (Sheba) From Ayat: 30 to 46

[YOUSAF ALI] Never did We send a warner to a population, but the wealthy ones among them said: "We believe not in the (Message) with which ye have been sent."

[ PICKTHAL ] And We sent not unto any township a warner, but its pampered ones declared: Lo! we are disbelievers in that wherewith ye have been sent.

[ SHAKIR ] And We never sent a warner to a town but those who led lives in ease in it said: We are surely disbelievers in what you are sent with.

  37. Sura: 34 - Saba (Sheba) From Ayat: 30 to 46

[YOUSAF ALI] They said: "We have more in wealth and in sons, and we cannot be punished."

[ PICKTHAL ] And they say: We are more (than you) in wealth and children. We are not the punished!

[ SHAKIR ] And they say: We have more wealth and children, and we shall not be punished.

  38. Sura: 34 - Saba (Sheba) From Ayat: 30 to 46

[YOUSAF ALI] Say: "Verily my Lord enlarges and restricts the Provision to whom He pleases, but most men understand not."

[ PICKTHAL ] Say (O Muhammad): Lo! my Lord enlargeth the provision for whom He will and narroweth it (for whom He will). But most of mankind know not.

[ SHAKIR ] Say: Surely my Lord amplifies the means of subsistence for whom He pleases and straitens (for whom He pleases), but most men do not know.

  39. Sura: 34 - Saba (Sheba) From Ayat: 30 to 46

[YOUSAF ALI] It is not your wealth nor your sons, that will bring you nearer to Us in degree: but only those who believe and work righteousness - these are the ones for whom there is a multiplied Reward for their deeds, while secure they (reside) in the dwellings on high!

[ PICKTHAL ] And it is not your wealth nor your children that will bring you near unto Us, but he who believeth and doeth good (he draweth near). As for such, theirs will be twofold reward for what they did and they will dwell secure in lofty halls.

[ SHAKIR ] And not your wealth nor your children, are the things which bring you near Us in station, but whoever believes and does good, these it is for whom is a double reward for what they do, and they shall be secure in the highest places.

  40. Sura: 34 - Saba (Sheba) From Ayat: 30 to 46

[YOUSAF ALI] Those who strive against Our Signs, to frustrate them, will be given over into Punishment.

[ PICKTHAL ] And as for those who strive against Our revelations, challenging, they will be brought to the doom.

[ SHAKIR ] And (as for) those who strive in opposing Our communications, they shall be caused to be brought to the chastisement.

  41. Sura: 34 - Saba (Sheba) From Ayat: 30 to 46

[YOUSAF ALI] Say: "Verily my Lord enlarges and restricts the Sustenance to such of his servants as He pleases: and nothing do ye spend in the least (in His cause) but He replaces it: for He is the Best of those who grant Sustenance.

[ PICKTHAL ] Say: Lo! my Lord enlargeth the provision for whom He will of His bondmen, and narroweth (it) for him. And whatsoever ye spend (for good) He replaceth it. And He is the Best of Providers.

[ SHAKIR ] Say: Surely my Lord amplifies the means of subsistence for whom He pleases of His servants and straitens (them) for whom (He pleases), and whatever thing you spend, He exceeds it in reward, and He is the best of Sustainers.

  42. Sura: 34 - Saba (Sheba) From Ayat: 30 to 46

[YOUSAF ALI] One Day He will gather them all together, and say to the angels, "Was it you that these men used to worship?"

[ PICKTHAL ] And on the day when He will gather them all together, He will say unto the angels: Did these worship you?

[ SHAKIR ] And on the day when He will gather them all together, then will He say to the angels: Did these worship you?

  43. Sura: 34 - Saba (Sheba) From Ayat: 30 to 46

[YOUSAF ALI] They will say, "Glory to Thee! our (tie) is with Thee - as Protector - not with them. Nay, but they worshipped the Jinns: most of them believed in them."

[ PICKTHAL ] They will say: Be Thou Glorified. Thou (alone) art our Guardian, not them! Nay, but they worshipped the jinn; most of them were believers in them.

[ SHAKIR ] They shall say: Glory be to Thee! Thou art our Guardian, not they; nay! they worshipped the jinn; most of them were believers in them.

  44. Sura: 34 - Saba (Sheba) From Ayat: 30 to 46

[YOUSAF ALI] So on that Day no power shall they have over each other, for profit or harm: and We shall say to the wrong-doers, "Taste ye the Penalty of the Fire,- the which ye were wont to deny!"

[ PICKTHAL ] That day ye will possess no use nor hurt one for another. And We shall say unto those who did wrong: Taste the doom of the Fire which ye used to deny.

[ SHAKIR ] So on that day one of you shall not control profit or harm for another, and We will say to those who were unjust: Taste the chastisement of the fire which you called a lie.

  45. Sura: 34 - Saba (Sheba) From Ayat: 30 to 46

[YOUSAF ALI] When Our Clear Signs are rehearsed to them, they say, "This is only a man who wishes to hinder you from the (worship) which your fathers practised." And they say, "This is only a falsehood invented!" and the Unbelievers say of the Truth when it comes to them, "This is nothing but evident magic!"

[ PICKTHAL ] And if Our revelations are recited unto them in plain terms, they say: This is naught else than a man who would turn you away from what your fathers used to worship; and they say: This is naught else than an invented lie. Those who disbelieve say of the truth when it reacheth them: This is naught else than mere magic.

[ SHAKIR ] And when Our clear communications are recited to them, they say: This is naught but a man who desires to turn you away from that which your fathers worshipped. And they say: This is naught but a lie that is forged. And those who disbelieve say of the truth when it comes to them: This is only clear enchantment.

  46. Sura: 34 - Saba (Sheba) From Ayat: 30 to 46

[YOUSAF ALI] But We had not given them Books which they could study, nor sent messengers to them before thee as Warners.

[ PICKTHAL ] And We have given them no scriptures which they study, nor sent We unto them, before thee, any warner.

[ SHAKIR ] And We have not given them any books which they read, nor did We send to them before you a warner.

  47. Sura: 34 - Saba (Sheba) From Ayat: 30 to 46

    (45

[YOUSAF ALI] And their predecessors rejected (the Truth); these have not received a tenth of what We had granted to those: yet when they rejected My messengers, how (terrible) was My rejection (of them)!

[ PICKTHAL ] Those before them denied, and these have not attained a tithe of that which We bestowed on them (of old); yet they denied My messengers. How intense then was My abhorrence (of them)!

[ SHAKIR ] And those before them rejected (the truth), and these have not yet attained a tenth of what We gave them, but they gave the lie to My messengers, then how was the manifestation of My disapproval?

  48. Sura: 34 - Saba (Sheba) From Ayat: 30 to 46

[YOUSAF ALI] Say: "I do admonish you on one point: that ye do stand up before Allah,- (It may be) in pairs, or (it may be) singly,- and reflect (within yourselves): your Companion is not possessed: he is no less than a warner to you, in face of a terrible Penalty."

[ PICKTHAL ] Say (unto them, O Muhammad): I exhort you unto one thing only: that ye awake, for Allah's sake, by twos and singly, and then reflect: There is no madness in your comrade. He is naught else than a warner unto you in face of a terrific doom.

[ SHAKIR ] Say: I exhort you only to one thing, that rise up for Allah's sake in twos and singly, then ponder: there is no madness in your fellow-citizen; he is only a warner to you before a severe chastisement.

  49. Sura: 34 - Saba (Sheba) From Ayat: 43 to 45

  52. Sura: 76 - al-Insaan (Man) Ayat: 3

[YOUSAF ALI] We showed him the Way: whether he be grateful or ungrateful (rests on his will).

[ PICKTHAL ] Lo! We have shown him the way, whether he be grateful or disbelieving.

[ SHAKIR ] Surely We have shown him the way: he may be thankful or unthankful.
