  1. Sura: 71 - Nooh (Nooh) From Ayat: 5 to 7

    [YOUSAF ALI] He said: "O my Lord! I have called to my People night and day:

    [ PICKTHAL ] He said: My Lord! Lo! I have called unto my people night and day

    [ SHAKIR ] He said: O my Lord! surely I have called my people by night and by day!

  2. Sura: 71 - Nooh (Nooh) From Ayat: 5 to 7

    فَلَمْ يَزِدْهُمْ دُعَائِي إِلَّا فِرَارًا (6

    پھر بھی میری دعوت کا کوئی اثر سوائے اس کے نہ ہوا کہ انہوں نے فرار اختیار کیا

    [YOUSAF ALI] "But my call only increases (their) flight (from the Right).

    [ PICKTHAL ] But all my calling doth but add to their repugnance;

    [ SHAKIR ] But my call has only made them flee the more:

  3. Sura: 71 - Nooh (Nooh) From Ayat: 5 to 7

    [YOUSAF ALI] "And every time I have called to them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they have (only) thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, grown obstinate, and given themselves up to arrogance.

    [ PICKTHAL ] And lo! whenever I call unto them that Thou mayst pardon them they thrust their fingers in their ears and cover themselves with their garments and persist (in their refusal) and magnify themselves in pride.

    [ SHAKIR ] And whenever I have called them that Thou mayest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, cover themselves with their garments, and persist and are puffed up with pride:

  4. Sura: 74 - al-Muddaththir (The Cloaked One) From Ayat: 18 to 25

    إِنَّهُ فَكَّرَ وَقَدَّرَ (18

    اس نے فکر کی اور اندازہ لگایا

    [YOUSAF ALI] For he thought and he plotted;-

    [ PICKTHAL ] For lo! he did consider; then he planned -

    [ SHAKIR ] Surely he reflected and guessed,

  5. Sura: 74 - al-Muddaththir (The Cloaked One) From Ayat: 18 to 25

    فَقُتِلَ كَيْفَ قَدَّرَ (19

    تو اسی میں مارا گیا کہ کیسا اندازہ لگایا

    [YOUSAF ALI] And woe to him! How he plotted!-

    [ PICKTHAL ] (Self-)destroyed is he, how he planned!

    [ SHAKIR ] But may he be cursed how he plotted;

  6. Sura: 74 - al-Muddaththir (The Cloaked One) From Ayat: 18 to 25

    ثُمَّ قُتِلَ كَيْفَ قَدَّرَ (20

    پھر اسی میں اور تباہ ہوگیا کہ کیسا اندازہ لگایا

    [YOUSAF ALI] Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!-

    [ PICKTHAL ] Again (self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! -

    [ SHAKIR ] Again, may he be cursed how he plotted;

  7. Sura: 74 - al-Muddaththir (The Cloaked One) From Ayat: 18 to 25

    ثُمَّ نَظَرَ (21

    پھر غور کیا

    [YOUSAF ALI] Then he looked round;

    [ PICKTHAL ] Then looked he,

    [ SHAKIR ] Then he looked,

  8. Sura: 74 - al-Muddaththir (The Cloaked One) From Ayat: 18 to 25

    ثُمَّ عَبَسَ وَبَسَرَ (22

    پھر تیوری چڑھا کر منہ بسور لیا

    [YOUSAF ALI] Then he frowned and he scowled;

    [ PICKTHAL ] Then frowned he and showed displeasure.

    [ SHAKIR ] Then he frowned and scowled,

  9. Sura: 74 - al-Muddaththir (The Cloaked One) From Ayat: 18 to 25

    ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ وَاسْتَكْبَرَ (23

    پھر منہ پھیر کر چلا گیا اور اکڑ گیا

    [YOUSAF ALI] Then he turned back and was haughty;

    [ PICKTHAL ] Then turned he away in pride

    [ SHAKIR ] Then he turned back and was big with pride,

  10. Sura: 74 - al-Muddaththir (The Cloaked One) From Ayat: 18 to 25

    فَقَالَ إِنْ هَٰذَا إِلَّا سِحْرٌ يُؤْثَرُ (24

    اور آخر میں کہنے لگا کہ یہ تو ایک جادو ہے جو پرانے زمانے سے چلا آرہا ہے

    [YOUSAF ALI] Then said he: "This is nothing but magic, derived from of old;

    [ PICKTHAL ] And said: This is naught else than magic from of old;

    [ SHAKIR ] ~Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others);

  11. Sura: 74 - al-Muddaththir (The Cloaked One) From Ayat: 18 to 25

    إِنْ هَٰذَا إِلَّا قَوْلُ الْبَشَرِ (25

    یہ تو صرف انسان کا کلام ہے

    [YOUSAF ALI] "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!"

    [ PICKTHAL ] This is naught else than speech of mortal man.

    [ SHAKIR ] This is naught but the word of a mortal.
