- Sura: 26 - ash-Shu`araa (The Poets) From Ayat: 128 to 130
أَتَبْنُونَ بِكُلِّ رِيعٍ آيَةً تَعْبَثُونَ (128
کیا تم کھیل تماشے کے لئے ہر اونچی جگہ پر ایک یادگار بناتے ہو
[YOUSAF ALI] "Do ye build a landmark on every high place to amuse yourselves?
[ PICKTHAL ] Build ye on every high place a monument for vain delight?
[ SHAKIR ] Do you build on every height a monument? Vain is it that you do:
- Sura: 26 - ash-Shu`araa (The Poets) From Ayat: 128 to 130
وَتَتَّخِذُونَ مَصَانِعَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَخْلُدُونَ (129
اور بڑے بڑے محل تعمیر کرتے ہو کہ شاید اسی طرح ہمیشہ دنیا میں رہ جاؤ
[YOUSAF ALI] "And do ye get for yourselves fine buildings in the hope of living therein (for ever)?
[ PICKTHAL ] And seek ye out strongholds, that haply ye may last for ever?
[ SHAKIR ] And you make strong fortresses that perhaps you may
- Sura: 26 - ash-Shu`araa (The Poets) From Ayat: 128 to 130
وَإِذَا بَطَشْتُمْ بَطَشْتُمْ جَبَّارِينَ (130
اور جب حملہ کرتے ہو تو نہایت جابرانہ حملہ کرتے ہو
[YOUSAF ALI] "And when ye exert your strong hand, do ye do it like men of absolute power?
[ PICKTHAL ] And if ye seize by force, seize ye as tyrants?
[ SHAKIR ] And when you lay hands (on men) you lay hands (like) tyrants;
- Sura: 26 - ash-Shu`araa (The Poets) From Ayat: 146 to 149
أَتُتْرَكُونَ فِي مَا هَاهُنَا آمِنِينَ (146
کیا تم یہاں کی نعمتوں میں اسی آرام سے چھوڑ دیئے جاؤ گے
[YOUSAF ALI] "Will ye be left secure, in (the enjoyment of) all that ye have here?-
[ PICKTHAL ] Will ye be left secure in that which is here before us,
[ SHAKIR ] Will you be left secure in what is here;

فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ (147
انہی باغات اور چشموں میں
[YOUSAF ALI] "Gardens and Springs,
[ PICKTHAL ] In gardens and watersprings.
[ SHAKIR ] In gardens and fountains,
- Sura: 26 - ash-Shu`araa (The Poets) From Ayat: 146 to 149
وَزُرُوعٍ وَنَخْلٍ طَلْعُهَا هَضِيمٌ (148
اور انہی کھیتوں اور خرمے کے درختوں کے درمیان جن کی کلیاں نرم و نازک ہیں
[YOUSAF ALI] "And corn-fields and date-palms with spathes near breaking (with the weight of fruit)?
[ PICKTHAL ] And tilled fields and heavy-sheathed palm-trees,
[ SHAKIR ] And cornfields and palm-trees having fine spadices?
- Sura: 26 - ash-Shu`araa (The Poets) From Ayat: 146 to 149
وَتَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ الْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا فَارِهِينَ (149
اور جو تم پہاڑوں کو کاٹ کر آسائشی مکانات تعمیر کررہے ہو
[YOUSAF ALI] "And ye carve houses out of (rocky) mountains with great skill.
[ PICKTHAL ] Though ye hew out dwellings in the mountain, being skilful?
[ SHAKIR ] And you hew houses out of the mountains exultingly;
- Sura: 28 - al-Qasas (The Stories) From Ayat: 3 to 4
نَتْلُو عَلَيْكَ مِنْ نَبَإِ مُوسَىٰ وَفِرْعَوْنَ بِالْحَقِّ لِقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ (3
ہم آپ کو موسٰی اور فرعون کی سّچی خبر سنارہے ہیں ان لوگوں کے لئے جو ایمان لانے والے ہیں
[YOUSAF ALI] We rehearse to thee some of the story of Moses and Pharaoh in Truth, for people who believe.
[ PICKTHAL ] We narrate unto thee (somewhat) of the story of Moses and Pharaoh with truth, for folk who believe.
[ SHAKIR ] We recite to you from the account of Musa and Firon with truth for people who believe.
- Sura: 28 - al-Qasas (The Stories) From Ayat: 3 to 4
إِنَّ فِرْعَوْنَ عَلَا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَجَعَلَ أَهْلَهَا شِيَعًا يَسْتَضْعِفُ طَائِفَةً مِنْهُمْ يُذَبِّحُ أَبْنَاءَهُمْ وَيَسْتَحْيِي نِسَاءَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّهُ كَانَ مِنَ الْمُفْسِدِينَ (4
فرعون نے روئے زمین پر بلندی اختیار کی اور اس نے اہلِ زمین کو مختلف حصوں میں تقسیم کردیا کہ ایک گروہ نے دوسرے کو بالکل کمزور بنادیا وہ لڑکوں کو ذبح کردیا کرتا تھا اور عورتوں کو زندہ رکھا کرتا تھا. وہ یقینا مفسدین میں سے تھا
[YOUSAF ALI] Truly Pharaoh elated himself in the land and broke up its people into sections, depressing a small group among them: their sons he slew, but he kept alive their females: for he was indeed a maker of mischief.
[ PICKTHAL ] Lo! Pharaoh exalted himself in the earth and made its people castes. A tribe among them he oppressed, killing their sons and sparing their women. Lo! he was of those who work corruption.
[ SHAKIR ] Surely Firon exalted himself in the land and made its people into parties, weakening one party from among them; he slaughtered their sons and let their women live; surely he was one of the mischiefmakers.
- Sura: 28 - al-Qasas (The Stories) From Ayat: 38 to 39
وَقَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ يَا أَيُّهَا الْمَلَأُ مَا عَلِمْتُ لَكُمْ مِنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرِي فَأَوْقِدْ لِي يَا هَامَانُ عَلَى الطِّينِ فَاجْعَلْ لِي صَرْحًا لَعَلِّي أَطَّلِعُ إِلَىٰ إِلَٰهِ مُوسَىٰ وَإِنِّي لَأَظُنُّهُ مِنَ الْكَاذِبِينَ (38
اور فرعون نے کہا کہ میرے زعما ئ مملکت! میرے علم میں تمہارے لئے میرے علاوہ کوئی خدا نہیں ہے لہٰذا ہامان! تم میرے لئے مٹی کا پجاوا لگاؤ اور پھر ایک قلعہ تیار کرو کہ میں اس پر چڑھ کر موسٰی کے خدا کی خبر لے آؤں اور میرا خیال تو یہ ہی ہے کہ موسٰی جھوٹے ہیں
[YOUSAF ALI] Pharaoh said: "O Chiefs! no god do I know for you but myself: therefore, O Haman! light me a (kiln to bake bricks) out of clay, and build me a lofty palace, that I may mount up to the god of Moses: but as far as I am concerned, I think (Moses) is a liar!"
[ PICKTHAL ] And Pharaoh said: O chiefs! I know not that ye have a god other than me, so kindle for me (a fire), O Haman, to bake the mud; and set up for me a lofty tower in order that I may survey the god of Moses; and lo! I deem him of the liars.
[ SHAKIR ] And Firon said: O chiefs! I do not know of any god for you besides myself; therefore kindle a fire for me, O Haman, for brick, then prepare for me a lofty building so that I may obtain knowledge of Musa's god, and most surely I think him to be one of the liars.
- Sura: 28 - al-Qasas (The Stories) From Ayat: 38 to 39
وَاسْتَكْبَرَ هُوَ وَجُنُودُهُ فِي الْأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ الْحَقِّ وَظَنُّوا أَنَّهُمْ إِلَيْنَا لَا يُرْجَعُونَ (39
اور فرعون اور اس کے لشکر نے ناحق غرور سے کام لیا اور یہ خیال کرلیا کہ وہ پلٹا کر ہماری بارگاہ میں نہیں لائے جائیں گے
[YOUSAF ALI] And he was arrogant and insolent in the land, beyond reason,- He and his hosts: they thought that they would not have to return to Us!
[ PICKTHAL ] And he and his hosts were haughty in the land without right, and deemed that they would never be brought back to Us.
[ SHAKIR ] And he was unjustly proud in the land, he and his hosts, and they deemed that they would not be brought back to Us.
- Sura: 43 - az-Zukhruf (Ornaments of gold) From Ayat: 51 to 52
وَنَادَىٰ فِرْعَوْنُ فِي قَوْمِهِ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ أَلَيْسَ لِي مُلْكُ مِصْرَ وَهَٰذِهِ الْأَنْهَارُ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِي ۖ أَفَلَا تُبْصِرُونَ (51
اور فرعون نے اپنی قوم سے پکار کر کہا اے قوم کیا یہ ملک مصر میرا نہیں ہے اور کیا یہ نہریں جو میرے قدموں کے نیچے جاری ہیں یہ سب میری نہیں ہیں پھر تمہیں کیوں نظر نہیں آرہا ہے
[YOUSAF ALI] And Pharaoh proclaimed among his people, saying: "O my people! Does not the dominion of Egypt belong to me, (witness) these streams flowing underneath my (palace)? What! see ye not then?
[ PICKTHAL ] And Pharaoh caused a proclamation to be made among his people saying: O my people! Is not mine the sovereignty of Egypt and these rivers flowing under me? Can ye not then discern?
[ SHAKIR ] And Firon proclaimed amongst his people: O my people! is not the kingdom of Egypt mine? And these rivers flow beneath me; do you not then see?
- Sura: 43 - az-Zukhruf (Ornaments of gold) From Ayat: 51 to 52
أَمْ أَنَا خَيْرٌ مِنْ هَٰذَا الَّذِي هُوَ مَهِينٌ وَلَا يَكَادُ يُبِينُ (52
کیا میں اس شخص سے بہتر نہیں ہوں جو پست حیثیت کا آدمی ہے اور صاف بول بھی نہیں پاتا ہے
[YOUSAF ALI] "Am I not better than this (Moses), who is a contemptible wretch and can scarcely express himself clearly?
[ PICKTHAL ] I am surely better than this fellow, who is despicable and can hardly make (his meaning) plain!
[ SHAKIR ] Nay! I am better than this fellow, who is contemptible, and who can hardly speak distinctly:
- Sura: 43 - az-Zukhruf (Ornaments of gold) Ayat: 54
فَاسْتَخَفَّ قَوْمَهُ فَأَطَاعُوهُ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَوْمًا فَاسِقِينَ (54
پس فرعون نے اپنی قوم کو سبک سر بنادیا اور انہوں نے اس کی اطاعت کرلی کہ وہ سب پہلے ہی سے فاسق اور بدکار تھے
[YOUSAF ALI] Thus did he make fools of his people, and they obeyed him: truly were they a people rebellious (against Allah).
[ PICKTHAL ] Thus he persuaded his people to make light (of Moses), and they obeyed him. Lo! they were a wanton folk.
[ SHAKIR ] So he incited his people to levity and they obeyed him: surely they were a transgressing people.
