- Sura: 2 - al-Baqara (The Cow) Ayat: 154

اور جو لوگ راہِ خدا میں قتل ہوجاتے ہیں انہیں مردہ نہ کہو بلکہ وہ زندہ ہیں لیکن تمہیں ان کی زندگی کا شعور نہیں ہے
[YOUSAF ALI] And say not of those who are slain in the way of Allah: "They are dead." Nay, they are living, though ye perceive (it) not.
[ PICKTHAL ] And call not those who are slain in the way of Allah "dead." Nay, they are living, only ye perceive not.
[ SHAKIR ] And do not speak of those who are slain in Allah's way as dead; nay, (they are) alive, but you do not perceive.
- Sura: 2 - al-Baqara (The Cow) Ayat: 249

اس کے بعد جب طالوت علیہ السّلام لشکر لے کر چلے تو انہوں نے کہا کہ اب خدا ایک نہر کے ذریعہ تمہارا امتحان لینے والا ہے جو اس میں سے پی لے گا وہ مجھ سے نہ ہوگا اور جو نہ چکھے گا وہ مجھ سے ہوگا مگر یہ کہ ایک چلّو پانی لے لے۔ نتیجہ یہ ہوا کہ سب نے پانی پی لیا سوائے چند افراد کے- پھر جب وہ صاحبانِ ایمان کو لے کر آگے بڑھے لوگوں نے کہا کہ آج تو جالوت اور اس کے لشکروں کے مقابلہ کی ہمت نہیں ہے اور ایک جماعت نے جسے خدا سے ملاقات کرنے کا خیال تھا کہا کہ اکثر چھوٹے چھوٹے گروہ بڑی بڑی جماعتوں پر حکم خدا سے غالب آجاتے ہیں اور اللہ صبر کرنے والوں کے ساتھ ہے
[YOUSAF ALI] When Talut set forth with the armies, he said: "Allah will test you at the stream: if any drinks of its water, He goes not with my army: Only those who taste not of it go with me: A mere sip out of the hand is excused." but they all drank of it, except a few. When they crossed the river,- He and the faithful ones with him,- they said: "This day We cannot cope with Goliath and his forces." but those who were convinced that they must meet Allah, said: "How oft, by Allah's will, Hath a small force vanquished a big one? Allah is with those who steadfastly persevere."
[ PICKTHAL ] And when Saul set out with the army, he said: Lo! Allah will try you by (the ordeal of) a river. Whosoever therefore drinketh thereof he is not of me, and whosoever tasteth it not he is of me, save him who taketh (thereof) in the hollow of his hand. But they drank thereof, all save a few of them. And after he had crossed (the river), he and those who believed with him, they said: We have no power this day against Goliath and his hosts. But those who knew that they would meet Allah exclaimed: How many a little company hath overcome a mighty host by Allah's leave! Allah is with the steadfast.
[ SHAKIR ] So when Talut departed with the forces, he said: Surely Allah will try you with a river; whoever then drinks from it, he is not of me, and whoever does not taste of it, he is surely of me, except he who takes with his hand as much of it as fills the hand; but with the exception of a few of them they drank from it. So when he had crossed it, he and those who believed with him, they said: We have today no power against Jalut and his forces. Those who were sure that they would meet their Lord said: How often has a small party vanquished a numerous host by Allah's permission, and Allah is with the patient.
- Sura: 3 - aal-`Imraan (The Family of `Imraan) From Ayat: 124 to 126
إِذْ تَقُولُ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَلَنْ يَكْفِيَكُمْ أَنْ يُمِدَّكُمْ رَبُّكُمْ بِثَلَاثَةِ آلَافٍ مِنَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ مُنْزَلِينَ (124
اس وقت جب آپ مومنین سے کہہ رہے تھے کہ کیا یہ تمہارے لئے کافی نہیں ہے کہ خدا تین ہزار فرشتوں کو نازل کرکے تمہاری مدد کرے
[YOUSAF ALI] Remember thou saidst to the Faithful: "Is it not enough for you that Allah should help you with three thousand angels (Specially) sent down?
[ PICKTHAL ] When thou didst say unto the believers: Is it not sufficient for you that your Lord should support you with three thousand angels sent down (to your help)?
[ SHAKIR ] When you said to the believers: Does it not suffice you that your Lord should assist you with three thousand of the angels sent down?
- Sura: 3 - aal-`Imraan (The Family of `Imraan) From Ayat: 124 to 126
بَلَىٰ ۚ إِنْ تَصْبِرُوا وَتَتَّقُوا وَيَأْتُوكُمْ مِنْ فَوْرِهِمْ هَٰذَا يُمْدِدْكُمْ رَبُّكُمْ بِخَمْسَةِ آلَافٍ مِنَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ مُسَوِّمِينَ (125
یقینا اگر تم صبر کرو گے اور تقوٰی اختیار کرو گے اور دشمن فی الفور تم تک آجائیں گے تو خدا پانچ ہزار فرشتوں سے تمہاری مدد کرے گا جن پر بہادری کے نشان لگے ہوں گے
[YOUSAF ALI] "Yea, - if ye remain firm, and act aright, even if the enemy should rush here on you in hot haste, your Lord would help you with five thousand angels Making a terrific onslaught.
[ PICKTHAL ] Nay, but if ye persevere, and keep from evil, and (the enemy) attack you suddenly, your Lord will help you with five thousand angels sweeping on.
[ SHAKIR ] Yea! if you remain patient and are on your guard, and they come upon you in a headlong manner, your Lord will assist you with five thousand of the havoc-making angels.
- Sura: 3 - aal-`Imraan (The Family of `Imraan) From Ayat: 124 to 126
وَمَا جَعَلَهُ اللَّهُ إِلَّا بُشْرَىٰ لَكُمْ وَلِتَطْمَئِنَّ قُلُوبُكُمْ بِهِ ۗ وَمَا النَّصْرُ إِلَّا مِنْ عِنْدِ اللَّهِ الْعَزِيزِ الْحَكِيمِ (126
اور اس امداد کو خدانے صرف تمہارے لئے بشارت اور اطمینانِ قلب کا سامان قرار دیا ہے ورنہ مدد تو ہمیشہ صرف خدائے عزیز و حکیم ہی کی طرف سے ہوتی ہے
[YOUSAF ALI] Allah made it but a message of hope for you, and an assurance to your hearts: (in any case) there is no help except from Allah. The Exalted, the Wise:
[ PICKTHAL ] Allah ordained this only as a message of good cheer for you, and that thereby your hearts might be at rest - Victory cometh only from Allah, the Mighty, the Wise -
[ SHAKIR ] And Allah did not make it but as good news for you, and that your hearts might be at ease thereby, and victory is only from Allah, the Mighty, the Wise.
- Sura: 4 - an-Nisaa' (The Women) Ayat: 74

اب ضرورت ہے کہ راہِ خدا میں وہ لوگ جہاد کریں جو زندگانی دنیا کو آخرت کے عوض بیچ ڈالتے ہیں اور جو بھی راہِ خدا میں جہاد کرے گا وہ قتل ہوجائے یا غالب آجائے دونوں صورتوں میں ہم اسے اجرِ عظیم عطا کریں گے
[YOUSAF ALI] Let those fight in the cause of Allah Who sell the life of this world for the hereafter. To him who fighteth in the cause of Allah,- whether he is slain or gets victory - Soon shall We give him a reward of great (value).
[ PICKTHAL ] Let those fight in the way of Allah who sell the life of this world for the other. Whoso fighteth in the way of Allah, be he slain or be he victorious, on him We shall bestow a vast reward.
[ SHAKIR ] Therefore let those fight in the way of Allah, who sell this world's life for the hereafter; and whoever fights in the way of Allah, then be he slain or be he victorious, We shall grant him a mighty reward.
- Sura: 4 - an-Nisaa' (The Women) Ayat: 76
الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا يُقَاتِلُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ۖ وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا يُقَاتِلُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ الطَّاغُوتِ فَقَاتِلُوا أَوْلِيَاءَ الشَّيْطَانِ ۖ إِنَّ كَيْدَ الشَّيْطَانِ كَانَ ضَعِيفًا (76
ایمان والے ہمیشہ اللہ کی راہ میں جہاد کرتے ہیں اور جو کافر ہیں وہ ہمیشہ طاغوت کی راہ میں لڑتے ہیں لہذا تم شیطان کے ساتھیوں سے جہاد کرو بیشک شیطان کا مکر بہت کمزور ہوتا ہے
[YOUSAF ALI] Those who believe fight in the cause of Allah, and those who reject Faith Fight in the cause of Evil: So fight ye against the friends of Satan: feeble indeed is the cunning of Satan.
[ PICKTHAL ] Those who believe do battle for the cause of Allah; and those who disbelieve do battle for the cause of idols. So fight the minions of the devil. Lo! the devil's strategy is ever weak.
[ SHAKIR ] Those who believe fight in the way of Allah, and those who disbelieve fight in the way of the Shaitan. Fight therefore against the friends of the Shaitan; surely the strategy of the Shaitan is weak.
- Sura: 8 - al-Anfaal (The Spoils of War) From Ayat: 12 to 13
إِذْ يُوحِي رَبُّكَ إِلَى الْمَلَائِكَةِ أَنِّي مَعَكُمْ فَثَبِّتُوا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا ۚ سَأُلْقِي فِي قُلُوبِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا الرُّعْبَ فَاضْرِبُوا فَوْقَ الْأَعْنَاقِ وَاضْرِبُوا مِنْهُمْ كُلَّ بَنَانٍ (12
جب تمہارا پروردگار ملائکہ کو وحی کررہاتھا کہ میں تمہارے ساتھ ہوں لہٰذا تم صاحبان هایمان کو ثبات قدم عطا کرو میں عنقریب کفاّ رکے دلوں میں رعب پیداکردوں گا لہذا تم کفاّر کی گردن کو مار دو اور ان کی تمام انگلیوں کے پُور پُور کاٹ دو
[YOUSAF ALI] Remember thy Lord inspired the angels (with the message): "I am with you: give firmness to the Believers: I will instil terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers: smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off them."
[ PICKTHAL ] When thy Lord inspired the angels, (saying): I am with you. So make those who believe stand firm. I will throw fear into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Then smite the necks and smite of them each finger.
[ SHAKIR ] When your Lord revealed to the angels: I am with you, therefore make firm those who believe. I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them.
- Sura: 8 - al-Anfaal (The Spoils of War) From Ayat: 12 to 13
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ شَاقُّوا اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ ۚ وَمَنْ يُشَاقِقِ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ شَدِيدُ الْعِقَابِ (13
یہ اس لئے ہے کہ ان لوگوں نے خدا و رسول کی مخالفت کی ہے اور جو خدا و رسول کی مخالفت کرے گا تو خدا اس کے لئے سخت عذاب کرنے والا ہے
[YOUSAF ALI] This because they contended against Allah and His Messenger: If any contend against Allah and His Messenger, Allah is strict in punishment.
[ PICKTHAL ] That is because they opposed Allah and His messenger. Whoso opposeth Allah and His messenger, (for him) lo! Allah is severe in punishment.
[ SHAKIR ] This is because they acted adversely to Allah and His Messenger; and whoever acts adversely to Allah and His Messenger-- then surely Allah is severe in requiting (evil).
- Sura: 8 - al-Anfaal (The Spoils of War) Ayat: 43
إِذْ يُرِيكَهُمُ اللَّهُ فِي مَنَامِكَ قَلِيلًا ۖ وَلَوْ أَرَاكَهُمْ كَثِيرًا لَفَشِلْتُمْ وَلَتَنَازَعْتُمْ فِي الْأَمْرِ وَلَٰكِنَّ اللَّهَ سَلَّمَ ۗ إِنَّهُ عَلِيمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ (43
جب خدا ان کو تمہاری نظروں میں کم کرکے دکھلا رہا تھا کہ اگر زیادہ دکھلا دیتا تو تم سست پڑ جاتے اور آپس ہی میں جھگڑا کرنے لگتے لیکن خدا نے تمہیں اس جھگڑے سے بچالیا کہ وہ دل کے رازوں سے بھی باخبر ہے
[YOUSAF ALI] Remember in thy dream Allah showed them to thee as few: if He had shown them to thee as many, ye would surely have been discouraged, and ye would surely have disputed in (your) decision; but Allah saved (you): for He knoweth well the (secrets) of (all) hearts.
[ PICKTHAL ] When Allah showed them unto thee (O Muhammad) in thy dream as few in number, and if He had shown them to thee as many, ye (Muslims) would have faltered and would have quarrelled over the affair. But Allah saved (you). Lo! He knoweth what is in the breasts (of men).
[ SHAKIR ] When Allah showed them to you in your dream as few; and if He had shown them to you as many you would certainly have become weak-hearted and you would have disputed about the matter, but Allah saved (you); surely He is the Knower of what is in the breasts.
- Sura: 8 - al-Anfaal (The Spoils of War) Ayat: 65
يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ حَرِّضِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلَى الْقِتَالِ ۚ إِنْ يَكُنْ مِنْكُمْ عِشْرُونَ صَابِرُونَ يَغْلِبُوا مِائَتَيْنِ ۚ وَإِنْ يَكُنْ مِنْكُمْ مِائَةٌ يَغْلِبُوا أَلْفًا مِنَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ لَا يَفْقَهُونَ (65
اے پیغمبر آپ لوگوں کو جہاد پر آمادہ کریں اگر ان میں بیس بھی صبر کرنے والے ہوں گے تو دو سو پر غالب آجائیں گے اور اگر سو ہوں گے تو ہزاروں کافروں پر غالب آجائیں گے اس لئے کہ کفاّر سمجھدار قوم نہیں ہیں
[YOUSAF ALI] O Prophet! rouse the Believers to the fight. If there are twenty amongst you, patient and persevering, they will vanquish two hundred: if a hundred, they will vanquish a thousand of the Unbelievers: for these are a people without understanding.
[ PICKTHAL ] O Prophet! Exhort the believers to fight. If there be of you twenty steadfast they shall overcome two hundred, and if there be of you a hundred (steadfast) they shall overcome a thousand of those who disbelieve, because they (the disbelievers) are a folk without intelligence.
[ SHAKIR ] O Prophet! urge the believers to war; if there are twenty patient ones of you they shall overcome two hundred, and if there are a hundred of you they shall overcome a thousand of those who disbelieve, because they are a people who do not understand.
- Sura: 9 - at-Tawba (The Repentance) Ayat: 111
۞ إِنَّ اللَّهَ اشْتَرَىٰ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَنْفُسَهُمْ وَأَمْوَالَهُمْ بِأَنَّ لَهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ ۚ يُقَاتِلُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَيَقْتُلُونَ وَيُقْتَلُونَ ۖ وَعْدًا عَلَيْهِ حَقًّا فِي التَّوْرَاةِ وَالْإِنْجِيلِ وَالْقُرْآنِ ۚ وَمَنْ أَوْفَىٰ بِعَهْدِهِ مِنَ اللَّهِ ۚ فَاسْتَبْشِرُوا بِبَيْعِكُمُ الَّذِي بَايَعْتُمْ بِهِ ۚ وَذَٰلِكَ هُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ (111
"بیشک اللہ نے صاحبانِ ایمان سے ان کے جان و مال کو جنّت کے عوض خریدلیا ہے کہ یہ لوگ راہ هخدا میں جہاد کرتے ہیں اور دشمنوں کو قتل کرتے ہیں اور پھر خود بھی قتل ہوجاتے ہیں یہ وعدئہ برحق توریت ,انجیل اور قرآن ہر جگہ ذکر ہوا ہے اور خدا سے زیادہ اپنی عہد کا پورا کرنے والا کون ہوگا تو اب تم لوگ اپنی اس تجارت پر خوشیاں مناؤ جو تم نے خدا سے کی ہے کہ یہی سب سے بڑی کامیابی ہے"
[YOUSAF ALI] Allah hath purchased of the believers their persons and their goods; for theirs (in return) is the garden (of Paradise): they fight in His cause, and slay and are slain: a promise binding on Him in truth, through the Law, the Gospel, and the Qur'an: and who is more faithful to his covenant than Allah? then rejoice in the bargain which ye have concluded: that is the achievement supreme.
[ PICKTHAL ] Lo! Allah hath bought from the believers their lives and their wealth because the Garden will be theirs: they shall fight in the way of Allah and shall slay and be slain. It is a promise which is binding on Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur'an. Who fulfilleth His covenant better than Allah? Rejoice then in your bargain that ye have made, for that is the supreme triumph.
[ SHAKIR ] Surely Allah has bought of the believers their persons and their property for this, that they shall have the garden; they fight in Allah's way, so they slay and are slain; a promise which is binding on Him in the Taurat and the Injeel and the Quran; and who is more faithful to his covenant than Allah? Rejoice therefore in the pledge which you have made; and that is the mighty achievement.
- Sura: 61 - as-Saff (The Ranks) Ayat: 4
إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ الَّذِينَ يُقَاتِلُونَ فِي سَبِيلِهِ صَفًّا كَأَنَّهُمْ بُنْيَانٌ مَرْصُوصٌ (4
بیشک اللہ ان لوگوں کو دوست رکھتا ہے جو اس کی راہ میں اس طرح صف باندھ کر جہاد کرتے ہیں جس طرح سیسہ پلائی ہوئی دیواریں
[YOUSAF ALI] Truly Allah loves those who fight in His Cause in battle array, as if they were a solid cemented structure.
[ PICKTHAL ] Lo! Allah loveth them who battle for His cause in ranks, as if they were a solid structure.
[ SHAKIR ] Surely Allah loves those who fight in His way in ranks as if they were a firm and compact wall.
