  1. Sura: 3 - aal-`Imraan (The Family of `Imraan) Ayat: 198

[YOUSAF ALI] On the other hand, for those who fear their Lord, are Gardens, with rivers flowing beneath; therein are they to dwell (for ever),- a gift from the presence of Allah; and that which is in the presence of Allah is the best (bliss) for the righteous.

[ PICKTHAL ] But those who keep their duty to their Lord, for them are Gardens underneath which rivers flow, wherein they will be safe for ever. A gift of welcome from their Lord. That which Allah hath in store is better for the righteous.

[ SHAKIR ] But as to those who are careful of (their duty to) their Lord, they shall have gardens beneath which rivers flow, abiding in them; an entertainment from their Lord, and that which is with Allah is best for the righteous.

  2. Sura: 4 - an-Nisaa' (The Women) Ayat: 57

[YOUSAF ALI] But those who believe and do deeds of righteousness, We shall soon admit to Gardens, with rivers flowing beneath,- their eternal home: Therein shall they have companions pure and holy: We shall admit them to shades, cool and ever deepening.

[ PICKTHAL ] And as for those who believe and do good works, We shall make them enter Gardens underneath which rivers flow - to dwell therein for ever; there for them are pure companions - and We shall make them enter plenteous shade.

[ SHAKIR ] And (as for) those who believe and do good deeds, We will make them enter gardens beneath which rivers flow, to abide in them for ever; they shall have therein pure mates, and We shall make them enter a dense shade.

  3. Sura: 9 - at-Tawba (The Repentance) Ayat: 72

[YOUSAF ALI] Allah hath promised to Believers, men and women, gardens under which rivers flow, to dwell therein, and beautiful mansions in gardens of everlasting bliss. But the greatest bliss is the good pleasure of Allah: that is the supreme felicity.

[ PICKTHAL ] Allah promiseth to the believers, men and women, Gardens underneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide - blessed dwellings in Gardens of Eden. And - greater (far)! - acceptance from Allah. That is the supreme triumph.

[ SHAKIR ] Allah has promised to the believing men and the believing women gardens, beneath which rivers flow, to abide in them, and goodly dwellings in gardens of perpetual abode; and best of all is Allah's goodly pleasure; that is the grand achievement.

  4. Sura: 13 - ar-Ra`ad (The Thunder) Ayat: 35

[YOUSAF ALI] The parable of the Garden which the righteous are promised!- beneath it flow rivers: perpetual is the enjoyment thereof and the shade therein: such is the end of the Righteous; and the end of Unbelievers in the Fire.

[ PICKTHAL ] A similitude of the Garden which is promised unto those who keep their duty (to Allah): Underneath it rivers flow; its food is everlasting, and its shade; this is the reward of those who keep their duty, while the reward of disbelievers is the Fire.

[ SHAKIR ] A likeness of the garden which the righteous are promised; there now beneath it rivers, its food and shades are perpetual; this is the requital of those who guarded (against evil), and the requital of the unbelievers is the fire.

  5. Sura: 32 - as-Sajda (The Prostration) Ayat: 19

[YOUSAF ALI] For those who believe and do righteous deeds are Gardens as hospitable homes, for their (good) deeds.

[ PICKTHAL ] But as for those who believe and do good works, for them are the Gardens of Retreat - a welcome (in reward) for what they used to do.

[ SHAKIR ] As for those who believe and do good, the gardens are their abiding-place; an entertainment for what they did.

  6. Sura: 76 - al-Insaan (Man) From Ayat: 13 to 14

[YOUSAF ALI] Reclining in the (Garden) on raised thrones, they will see there neither the sun's (excessive heat) nor (the moon's) excessive cold.

[ PICKTHAL ] Reclining therein upon couches, they will find there neither (heat of) a sun nor bitter cold.

[ SHAKIR ] Reclining therein on raised couches, they shall find therein neither (the severe heat of) the sun nor intense cold.

  7. Sura: 76 - al-Insaan (Man) From Ayat: 13 to 14

[YOUSAF ALI] And the shades of the (Garden) will come low over them, and the bunches (of fruit), there, will hang low in humility.

[ PICKTHAL ] The shade thereof is close upon them and the clustered fruits thereof bow down.

[ SHAKIR ] And close down upon them (shall be) its shadows, and its fruits shall be made near (to them), being easy to reach.

  8. Sura: 77 - al-Mursalaat (The Emissaries) From Ayat: 41 to 42

[YOUSAF ALI] As to the Righteous, they shall be amidst (cool) shades and springs (of water).

[ PICKTHAL ] Lo! those who kept their duty are amid shade and fountains,

[ SHAKIR ] Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be amid shades and fountains,

  9. Sura: 77 - al-Mursalaat (The Emissaries) From Ayat: 41 to 42

[YOUSAF ALI] And (they shall have) fruits,- all they desire.

[ PICKTHAL ] And fruits such as they desire.

[ SHAKIR ] And fruits such as they desire.
