يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ قُلْ لِأَزْوَاجِكَ إِنْ كُنْتُنَّ تُرِدْنَ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا وَزِينَتَهَا فَتَعَالَيْنَ أُمَتِّعْكُنَّ وَأُسَرِّحْكُنَّ سَرَاحًا جَمِيلًا (28
پیغمبر آپ اپنی بیویوں سے کہہ دیجئے کہ اگر تم لوگ زندگانی دنیا اور اس کی زینت کی طلبگار ہو تو آؤ میں تمہیں متاغِ دنیا دے کر خوبصورتی کے ساتھ رخصت کردوں
[YOUSAF ALI] O Prophet! Say to thy Consorts: "If it be that ye desire the life of this World, and its glitter,- then come! I will provide for your enjoyment and set you free in a handsome manner.
[ PICKTHAL ] O Prophet! Say unto thy wives: If ye desire the world's life and its adornment, come! I will content you and will release you with a fair release.
[ SHAKIR ] O Prophet! say to your wives: If you desire this world's life and its adornment, then come, I will give you a provision and allow you to depart a goodly departing

اور اگر اللہ اور رسول اور آخرت کی طلبگار ہو تو خدا نے تم میں سے نیک کردار عورتوں کے لئے بہت بڑا اجر فراہم کر رکھا ہے
[YOUSAF ALI] But if ye seek Allah and His Messenger, and the Home of the Hereafter, verily Allah has prepared for the well-doers amongst you a great reward.
[ PICKTHAL ] But if ye desire Allah and His messenger and the abode of the Hereafter, then lo! Allah hath prepared for the good among you an immense reward.
[ SHAKIR ] And if you desire Allah and His Messenger and the latter abode, then surely Allah has prepared for the doers of good among you a mighty reward.

اے زنان هپیغمبر جو بھی تم میں سے کِھلی ہوئی برائی کا ارتکاب کرے گی اس کا عذاب بھی دہرا کردیا جائے گا اور یہ بات خد اکے لئے بہت آسان ہے
[YOUSAF ALI] O Consorts of the Prophet! If any of you were guilty of evident unseemly conduct, the Punishment would be doubled to her, and that is easy for Allah.
[ PICKTHAL ] O ye wives of the Prophet! Whosoever of you committeth manifest lewdness, the punishment for her will be doubled, and that is easy for Allah.
[ SHAKIR ] O wives of the prophet! whoever of you commits an open indecency, the punishment shall be increased to her doubly; and this IS easy to Allah.

اور جو بھی تم میں سے خدا اور رسول کی اطاعت کرے اور نیک اعمال کرے اسے دہرا اجر عطا کریں گے اور ہم نے اس کے لئے بہترین رزق فراہم کیا ہے
[YOUSAF ALI] But any of you that is devout in the service of Allah and His Messenger, and works righteousness,- to her shall We grant her reward twice: and We have prepared for her a generous Sustenance.
[ PICKTHAL ] And whosoever of you is submissive unto Allah and His messenger and doeth right, We shall give her her reward twice over, and We have prepared for her a rich provision.
[ SHAKIR ] And whoever of you is obedient to Allah and His Messenger and does good, We will give to her her reward doubly, and We have prepared for her an honorable sustenance.

اے زنانِ پیغمبر تم اگر تقویٰ اختیار کرو تو تمہارا مرتبہ کسی عام عورت جیسا نہیں ہے لہٰذا کسی آدمی سے لگی لپٹی بات نہ کرنا کہ جس کے دل میں بیماری ہو اسے لالچ پیدا ہوجائے اور ہمیشہ نیک باتیں کیا کرو
[YOUSAF ALI] O Consorts of the Prophet! Ye are not like any of the (other) women: if ye do fear (Allah), be not too complacent of speech, lest one in whose heart is a disease should be moved with desire: but speak ye a speech (that is) just.
[ PICKTHAL ] O ye wives of the Prophet! Ye are not like any other women. If ye keep your duty (to Allah), then be not soft of speech, lest he in whose heart is a disease aspire (to you), but utter customary speech.
[ SHAKIR ] O wives of the Prophet! you are not like any other of the women; If you will be on your guard, then be not soft in (your) speech, lest he in whose heart is a disease yearn; and speak a good word.

اور اپنے گھر میں بیٹھی رہو اور پہلی جاہلیت جیسا بناؤ سنگھار نہ کرو اور نماز قائم کرو اور زکوٰۃ ادا کرو اور اللہ اور اس کے رسولؐ کی اطاعت کرو - بس اللہ کا ارادہ یہ ہے اے اہلبیت علیہ السّلام کہ تم سے ہر برائی کو دور رکھے اور اس طرح پاک و پاکیزہ رکھے جو پاک و پاکیزہ رکھنے کا حق ہے
[YOUSAF ALI] And stay quietly in your houses, and make not a dazzling display, like that of the former Times of Ignorance; and establish regular Prayer, and give regular Charity; and obey Allah and His Messenger. And Allah only wishes to remove all abomination from you, ye members of the Family, and to make you pure and spotless.
[ PICKTHAL ] And stay in your houses. Bedizen not yourselves with the bedizenment of the Time of Ignorance. Be regular in prayer, and pay the poor-due, and obey Allah and His messenger. Allah's wish is but to remove uncleanness far from you, O Folk of the Household, and cleanse you with a thorough cleansing.
[ SHAKIR ] And stay in your houses and do not display your finery like the displaying of the ignorance of yore; and keep up prayer, and pay the poor-rate, and obey Allah and His Messenger. Allah only desires to keep away the uncleanness from you, O people of the House! and to purify you a (thorough) purifying.

[YOUSAF ALI] And recite what is rehearsed to you in your homes, of the Signs of Allah and His Wisdom: for Allah understands the finest mysteries and is well-acquainted (with them).
[ PICKTHAL ] And bear in mind that which is recited in your houses of the revelations of Allah and wisdom. Lo! Allah is Subtile, Aware.
[ SHAKIR ] And keep to mind what is recited in your houses of the communications of Allah and the wisdom; surely Allah is Knower of subtleties, Aware.

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ لِمَ تُحَرِّمُ مَا أَحَلَّ اللَّهُ لَكَ ۖ تَبْتَغِي مَرْضَاتَ أَزْوَاجِكَ ۚ وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ (1
پیغمبر آپ اس شے کو کیوں ترک کررہے ہیں جس کو خدا نے آپ کے لئے حلال کیا ہے کیا آپ ازواج کی مرضی کے خواہشمند ہیں اور اللہ بہت بخشنے والا اور مہربان ہے
[YOUSAF ALI] O Prophet! Why holdest thou to be forbidden that which Allah has made lawful to thee? Thou seekest to please thy consorts. But Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
[ PICKTHAL ] O Prophet! Why bannest thou that which Allah hath made lawful for thee, seeking to please thy wives? And Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
[ SHAKIR ] O Prophet! why do you forbid (yourself) that which Allah has made lawful for you; you seek to please your wives; and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

قَدْ فَرَضَ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ تَحِلَّةَ أَيْمَانِكُمْ ۚ وَاللَّهُ مَوْلَاكُمْ ۖ وَهُوَ الْعَلِيمُ الْحَكِيمُ (2
خدا نے فرض قرار دیا ہے کہ اپنی قسم کو کفارہ دے کر ختم کردیجئے اور اللہ آپ کا مولا ہے اور وہ ہر چیز کا جاننے والا اور صاحبِ حکمت ہے
[YOUSAF ALI] Allah has already ordained for you, (O men), the dissolution of your oaths (in some cases): and Allah is your Protector, and He is Full of Knowledge and Wisdom.
[ PICKTHAL ] Allah hath made lawful for you (Muslims) absolution from your oaths (of such a kind), and Allah is your Protector. He is the Knower, the Wise.
[ SHAKIR ] Allah indeed has sanctioned for you the expiation of your oaths and Allah is your Protector, and He is the Knowing the Wise.

وَإِذْ أَسَرَّ النَّبِيُّ إِلَىٰ بَعْضِ أَزْوَاجِهِ حَدِيثًا فَلَمَّا نَبَّأَتْ بِهِ وَأَظْهَرَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ عَرَّفَ بَعْضَهُ وَأَعْرَضَ عَنْ بَعْضٍ ۖ فَلَمَّا نَبَّأَهَا بِهِ قَالَتْ مَنْ أَنْبَأَكَ هَٰذَا ۖ قَالَ نَبَّأَنِيَ الْعَلِيمُ الْخَبِيرُ (3
اور جب نبی نے اپنی بعض ازواج سے راز کی بات بتائی اور اس نے دوسری کو باخبر کردیا اور خدا نے نبی پر ظاہر کردیا تو نبی نے بعض باتوں کو اسے بتایا اور بعض سے اعراض کیا پھر جب اسے باخبر کیا تو اس نے پوچھا کہ آپ کو کس نے بتایا ہے تو آپ نے کہا کہ خدائے علیم و خبیرنے
[YOUSAF ALI] When the Prophet disclosed a matter in confidence to one of his consorts, and she then divulged it (to another), and Allah made it known to him, he confirmed part thereof and repudiated a part. Then when he told her thereof, she said, "Who told thee this? "He said, "He told me Who knows and is well-acquainted (with all things)."
[ PICKTHAL ] When the Prophet confided a fact unto one of his wives and when she afterward divulged it and Allah apprised him thereof, he made known (to her) part thereof and passed over part. And when he told it her she said: Who hath told thee? He said: The Knower, the Aware hath told me.
[ SHAKIR ] And when the prophet secretly communicated a piece of information to one of his wives-- but when she informed (others) of it, and Allah made him to know it, he made known part of it and avoided part; so when he informed her of it, she said: Who informed you of this? He said: The Knowing, the one Aware, informed me.

إِنْ تَتُوبَا إِلَى اللَّهِ فَقَدْ صَغَتْ قُلُوبُكُمَا ۖ وَإِنْ تَظَاهَرَا عَلَيْهِ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ مَوْلَاهُ وَجِبْرِيلُ وَصَالِحُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ۖ وَالْمَلَائِكَةُ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ ظَهِيرٌ (4
اب تم دونوں توبہ کرو کہ تمہارے دلوں میں کجی پیدا ہوگئی ہے ورنہ اگر اس کے خلاف اتفاق کرو گی تو یاد رکھو کہ اللہ اس کا سرپرست ہے اور جبریل اور نیک مومنین اور ملائکہ سب اس کے مددگار ہیں
[YOUSAF ALI] If ye two turn in repentance to Him, your hearts are indeed so inclined; But if ye back up each other against him, truly Allah is his Protector, and Gabriel, and (every) righteous one among those who believe,- and furthermore, the angels - will back (him) up.
[ PICKTHAL ] If ye twain turn unto Allah repentant, (ye have cause to do so) for your hearts desired (the ban); and if ye aid one another against him (Muhammad) then lo! Allah, even He, is his Protecting Friend, and Gabriel and the righteous among the believers; and furthermore the angels are his helpers.
[ SHAKIR ] If you both turn to Allah, then indeed your hearts are already inclined (to this); and if you back up each other against him, then surely Allah it is Who is his Guardian, and Jibreel and -the believers that do good, and the angels after that are the aiders.

عَسَىٰ رَبُّهُ إِنْ طَلَّقَكُنَّ أَنْ يُبْدِلَهُ أَزْوَاجًا خَيْرًا مِنْكُنَّ مُسْلِمَاتٍ مُؤْمِنَاتٍ قَانِتَاتٍ تَائِبَاتٍ عَابِدَاتٍ سَائِحَاتٍ ثَيِّبَاتٍ وَأَبْكَارًا (5
"وہ اگر تمہیں طلاق بھی دے دے گا تو خدا تمہارے بدلے اسے تم سے بہتر بیویاں عطا کردے گا مسلمہ, مومنہ, فرمانبردار, توبہ کرنے والی, عبادت گزار, روزہ رکھنے والی, کنواری اور غیر کنواری سب"
[YOUSAF ALI] It may be, if he divorced you (all), that Allah will give him in exchange consorts better than you,- who submit (their wills), who believe, who are devout, who turn to Allah in repentance, who worship (in humility), who travel (for Faith) and fast,- previously married or virgins.
[ PICKTHAL ] It may happen that his Lord, if he divorce you, will give him in your stead wives better than you, submissive (to Allah), believing, pious, penitent, devout, inclined to fasting, widows and maids.
[ SHAKIR ] Maybe, his Lord, if he divorce you, will give him in your place wives better than you, submissive, faithful, obedient, penitent, adorers, fasters, widows and virgins.

ضَرَبَ اللَّهُ مَثَلًا لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا امْرَأَتَ نُوحٍ وَامْرَأَتَ لُوطٍ ۖ كَانَتَا تَحْتَ عَبْدَيْنِ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا صَالِحَيْنِ فَخَانَتَاهُمَا فَلَمْ يُغْنِيَا عَنْهُمَا مِنَ اللَّهِ شَيْئًا وَقِيلَ ادْخُلَا النَّارَ مَعَ الدَّاخِلِينَ (10
خدا نے کفر اختیار کرنے والوں کے لئے زوجہ نوح اور زوجہ لوط کی مثال بیان کی ہے کہ یہ دونوں ہمارے نیک بندوں کی زوجیت میں تھیں لیکن ان سے خیانت کی تو اس زوجیت نے خدا کی بارگاہ میں کوئی فائدہ نہیں پہنچایا اور ان سے کہہ دیا گیا کہ تم بھی تمام جہنمّ میں داخل ہونے والوں کے ساتھ داخل ہوجاؤ
[YOUSAF ALI] Allah sets forth, for an example to the Unbelievers, the wife of Noah and the wife of Lut: they were (respectively) under two of our righteous servants, but they were false to their (husbands), and they profited nothing before Allah on their account, but were told: "Enter ye the Fire along with (others) that enter!"
[ PICKTHAL ] Allah citeth an example for those who disbelieve: the wife of Noah and the wife of Lot, who were under two of Our righteous slaves yet betrayed them so that they (the husbands) availed them naught against Allah and it was said (unto them): Enter the Fire along with those who enter.
[ SHAKIR ] Allah sets forth an example to those who disbelieve the wife of Nuh and the wife of Lut: they were both under two of Our righteous servants, but they acted treacherously towards them so they availed them naught against Allah, and it was said: Enter both the fire with those who enter.
[ REMARKS : Wives of Prophet Noh(a.s.) and Prophet Loot(a.s.) are examples for the infidels. Their being wives of prophet did not save them from going to hell because of their bad deeds.The wives of Pharoah is an example for believing men and women. ]

وَضَرَبَ اللَّهُ مَثَلًا لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا امْرَأَتَ فِرْعَوْنَ إِذْ قَالَتْ رَبِّ ابْنِ لِي عِنْدَكَ بَيْتًا فِي الْجَنَّةِ وَنَجِّنِي مِنْ فِرْعَوْنَ وَعَمَلِهِ وَنَجِّنِي مِنَ الْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ (11
اور خدا نے ایمان والوں کے لئے فرعون کی زوجہ کی مثال بیان کی ہے کہ اس نے دعا کی کہ پروردگار میرے لئے جنّت میں ایک گھر بنادے اور مجھے فرعون اور اس کے کاروبار سے نجات دلادے اور اس پوری ظالم قوم سے نجات عطا کردے
[YOUSAF ALI] And Allah sets forth, as an example to those who believe the wife of Pharaoh: Behold she said: "O my Lord! Build for me, in nearness to Thee, a mansion in the Garden, and save me from Pharaoh and his doings, and save me from those that do wrong";
[ PICKTHAL ] And Allah citeth an example for those who believe: the wife of Pharaoh when she said: My Lord! Build for me a home with thee in the Garden, and deliver me from Pharaoh and his work, and deliver me from evil-doing folk;
[ SHAKIR ] And Allah sets forth an example to those who believe the wife of Firon when she said: My Lord! build for me a house with Thee in the garden and deliver me from Firon and his doing, and deliver me from the unjust people:
[ REMARKS : Wives of Prophet Noh(a.s.) and Prophet Loot(a.s.) are examples for the infidels. Their being wives of prophet did not save them from going to hell because of their bad deeds.The wives of Pharoah is an example for believing men and women. ]
