اللہ جس کے علاوہ کوئی خدا نہیں ہے زندہ بھی ہے اور اسی سے کِل کائنات قائم ہے اسے نہ نیند آتی ہے نہ اُونگھ آسمانوں اور زمین میں جو کچھ بھی ہے سب اسی کا ہے۔ کون ہے جو اس کی بارگاہ میں اس کی اجازت کے بغیر سفارش کرسکے۔ وہ جو کچھ ان کے سامنے ہے اور جو پسِ پشت ہے سب کو جانتا ہے اور یہ اس کے علم کے ایک حصہ کا بھی احاطہ نہیں کرسکتے مگر وہ جس قدر چاہے۔ اس کی کرسی علم و اقتدار زمین و آسمان سے وسیع تر ہے اور اسے ان کے تحفظ میں کوئی تکلیف بھی نہیں ہوتی وہ عالی مرتبہ بھی ہے اور صاحبِ عظمت بھی
[YOUSAF ALI] Allah! There is no god but He,-the Living, the Self-subsisting, Eternal. No slumber can seize Him nor sleep. His are all things in the heavens and on earth. Who is there can intercede in His presence except as He permitteth? He knoweth what (appeareth to His creatures as) before or after or behind them. Nor shall they compass aught of His knowledge except as He willeth. His Throne doth extend over the heavens and the earth, and He feeleth no fatigue in guarding and preserving them for He is the Most High, the Supreme (in glory).
[ PICKTHAL ] Allah! There is no deity save Him, the Alive, the Eternal. Neither slumber nor sleep overtaketh Him. Unto Him belongeth whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth. Who is he that intercedeth with Him save by His leave? He knoweth that which is in front of them and that which is behind them, while they encompass nothing of His knowledge save what He will. His throne includeth the heavens and the earth, and He is never weary of preserving them. He is the Sublime, the Tremendous.
[ SHAKIR ] Allah is He besides Whom there is no god, the Everliving, the Self-subsisting by Whom all subsist; slumber does not overtake Him nor sleep; whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth is His; who is he that can intercede with Him but by His permission? He knows what is before them and what is behind them, and they cannot comprehend anything out of His knowledge except what He pleases, His knowledge extends over the heavens and the earth, and the preservation of them both tires Him not, and He is the Most High, the Great.
[ REMARKS : Allah(swt) is the Wali of Momineen and takes them out of darkness into light. There are wali of Taghoot as well who take people into darkness from light. ]

لَا إِكْرَاهَ فِي الدِّينِ ۖ قَدْ تَبَيَّنَ الرُّشْدُ مِنَ الْغَيِّ ۚ فَمَنْ يَكْفُرْ بِالطَّاغُوتِ وَيُؤْمِنْ بِاللَّهِ فَقَدِ اسْتَمْسَكَ بِالْعُرْوَةِ الْوُثْقَىٰ لَا انْفِصَامَ لَهَا ۗ وَاللَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ (256
دین میں کسی طرح کا جبر نہیں ہے. ہدایت گمراہی سے الگ اور واضح ہوچکی ہے. اب جو شخص بھی طاغوت کا انکار کرکے اللہ پر ایمان لے آئے وہ اس کی مضبوط رسّی سے متمسک ہوگیا ہے جس کے ٹوٹنے کا امکان نہیں ہے اور خدا سمیع بھی ہے اور علیم بھی ہے
[YOUSAF ALI] Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things.
[ PICKTHAL ] There is no compulsion in religion. The right direction is henceforth distinct from error. And he who rejecteth false deities and believeth in Allah hath grasped a firm handhold which will never break. Allah is Hearer, Knower.
[ SHAKIR ] There is no compulsion in religion; truly the right way has become clearly distinct from error; therefore, whoever disbelieves in the Shaitan and believes in Allah he indeed has laid hold on the firmest handle, which shall not break off, and Allah is Hearing, Knowing.

اللَّهُ وَلِيُّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا يُخْرِجُهُمْ مِنَ الظُّلُمَاتِ إِلَى النُّورِ ۖ وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا أَوْلِيَاؤُهُمُ الطَّاغُوتُ يُخْرِجُونَهُمْ مِنَ النُّورِ إِلَى الظُّلُمَاتِ ۗ أُولَٰئِكَ أَصْحَابُ النَّارِ ۖ هُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ (257
اللہ صاحبانِ ایمان کا ولی ہے وہ انہیں تاریکیوں سے نکال کر روشنی میں لے آتا ہے اور کفارکے ولی طاغوت ہیں جو انہیں روشنی سے نکال کر اندھیروں میں لے جاتے ہیں یہی لوگ جہّنمی ہیں اور وہاں ہمیشہ رہنے والے ہیں
[YOUSAF ALI] Allah is the Protector of those who have faith: from the depths of darkness He will lead them forth into light. Of those who reject faith the patrons are the evil ones: from light they will lead them forth into the depths of darkness. They will be companions of the fire, to dwell therein (For ever).
[ PICKTHAL ] Allah is the Protecting Guardian of those who believe. He bringeth them out of darkness into light. As for those who disbelieve, their patrons are false deities. They bring them out of light into darkness. Such are rightful owners of the Fire. They will abide therein.
[ SHAKIR ] Allah is the guardian of those who believe. He brings them out of the darkness into the light; and (as to) those who disbelieve, their guardians are Shaitans who take them out of the light into the darkness; they are the inmates of the fire, in it they shall abide.

خبردار صاحبانِ ایمان مومنین کو چھوڑ کر کفار کو اپنا ولی اور سرپرست نہ بنائیں کہ جو بھی ایسا کرے گا اس کا خدا سے کوئی تعلق نہ ہوگا مگر یہ کہ تمہیں کفار سے خوف ہو تو کوئی حرج بھی نہیں ہے اور خدا تمہیں اپنی ہستی سے ڈراتا ہے اور اسی کی طرف پلٹ کر جانا ہے
[YOUSAF ALI] Let not the believers Take for friends or helpers Unbelievers rather than believers: if any do that, in nothing will there be help from Allah: except by way of precaution, that ye may Guard yourselves from them. But Allah cautions you (To remember) Himself; for the final goal is to Allah.
[ PICKTHAL ] Let not the believers take disbelievers for their friends in preference to believers. Whoso doeth that hath no connection with Allah unless (it be) that ye but guard yourselves against them, taking (as it were) security. Allah biddeth you beware (only) of Himself. Unto Allah is the journeying.
[ SHAKIR ] Let not the believers take the unbelievers for friends rather than believers; and whoever does this, he shall have nothing of (the guardianship of) Allah, but you should guard yourselves against them, guarding carefully; and Allah makes you cautious of (retribution from) Himself; and to Allah is the eventual coming.
[ REMARKS : Taqayya permitted in Quran. Do not take Kuffar as your Wali, Guardian, Friend but if you are in danger from them then it is allowed. ]

- Sura: 5 - al-Maaida (The Table) Ayat: 51
۞ يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَتَّخِذُوا الْيَهُودَ وَالنَّصَارَىٰ أَوْلِيَاءَ ۘ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَاءُ بَعْضٍ ۚ وَمَنْ يَتَوَلَّهُمْ مِنْكُمْ فَإِنَّهُ مِنْهُمْ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِينَ (51
ایمان والو یہودیوں اور عیسائیوں کو اپنا دوست اور سرپرست نہ بناؤ کہ یہ خود آپس میں ایک دوسرے کے دوست ہیں اور تم میں سے کوئی انہیں دوست بنائے گا تو ان ہی میں شمار ہوجائے گا بیشک اللہ ظالم قوم کی ہدایت نہیں کرتا ہے
[YOUSAF ALI] O ye who believe! take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors: They are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them. Verily Allah guideth not a people unjust.
[ PICKTHAL ] O ye who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians for friends. They are friends one to another. He among you who taketh them for friends is (one) of them. Lo! Allah guideth not wrongdoing folk.
[ SHAKIR ] O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people.
[ REMARKS : Not to take Jews and Christians as your guardians/ friends/ protectors ]

- Sura: 5 - al-Maaida (The Table) Ayat: 55

ایمان والو بس تمہارا ولی اللہ ہے اور اس کا رسول اور وہ صاحبانِ ایمان جو نماز قائم کرتے ہیں اور حالت رکوع میں زکوِٰۃ دیتے ہیں
[YOUSAF ALI] Your (real) friends are (no less than) Allah, His Messenger, and the (fellowship of) believers,- those who establish regular prayers and regular charity, and they bow down humbly (in worship).
[ PICKTHAL ] Your guardian can be only Allah; and His messenger and those who believe, who establish worship and pay the poordue, and bow down (in prayer).
[ SHAKIR ] Only Allah is your Vali and His Messenger and those who believe, those who keep up prayers and pay the poor-rate while they bow.
[ REMARKS : Three walis in the Quran - Allah(swt), the Prophet(sawaw) and those who paid zakat while bowing in Rukoo ]

- Sura: 12 - Yusuf (Joseph) Ayat: 101
۞ رَبِّ قَدْ آتَيْتَنِي مِنَ الْمُلْكِ وَعَلَّمْتَنِي مِنْ تَأْوِيلِ الْأَحَادِيثِ ۚ فَاطِرَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ أَنْتَ وَلِيِّي فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ ۖ تَوَفَّنِي مُسْلِمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِي بِالصَّالِحِينَ (101
پروردگار تو نے مجھے ملک بھی عطا کیا اور خوابوں کی تعبیر کا علم بھی دیا -تو زمین و آسمان کا پیدا کرنے والا ہے اور دنیا وآخرت میں میرا ولی اور سرپرست ہے مجھے دنیا سے فرمانبردار اٹھانا اور صالحین سے ملحق کردینا
[YOUSAF ALI] "O my Lord! Thou hast indeed bestowed on me some power, and taught me something of the interpretation of dreams and events,- O Thou Creator of the heavens and the earth! Thou art my Protector in this world and in the Hereafter. Take Thou my soul (at death) as one submitting to Thy will (as a Muslim), and unite me with the righteous."
[ PICKTHAL ] O my Lord! Thou hast given me (something) of sovereignty and hast taught me (something) of the interpretation of events - Creator of the heavens and the earth! Thou art my Protecting Guardian in the world and the Hereafter. Make me to die muslim (unto Thee), and join me to the righteous.
[ SHAKIR ] My Lord! Thou hast given me of the kingdom and taught me of the interpretation of sayings: Originator of the heavens and the earth! Thou art my guardian in this world and the hereafter; make me die a muslim and join me with the good.
