Ayat-e-Ishtara

1. Sura: 2 - al-Baqara (The Cow) Ayat: 207

   وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَنْ يَشْرِي نَفْسَهُ ابْتِغَاءَ مَرْضَاتِ اللَّهِ ۗ وَاللَّهُ رَءُوفٌ بِالْعِبَادِ (207

   اور لوگوں میں وہ بھی ہیں جو اپنے نفس کو مرضی پروردگار کے لئے بیچ ڈالتے ہیں اور اللہ اپنے بندوں پر بڑا مہربان ہے

   [YOUSAF ALI] And there is the type of man who gives his life to earn the pleasure of Allah: And Allah is full of kindness to (His) devotees.

   [ PICKTHAL ] And of mankind is he who would sell himself, seeking the pleasure of Allah; and Allah hath compassion on (His) bondmen.

   [ SHAKIR ] And among men is he who sells himself to seek the pleasure of Allah; and Allah is Affectionate to the servants.

   [ REMARKS : There is the one among men who buys the pleasure of Allah(swt) by selling his nafs. Imam Ali(a.s.) sold his nafs by sleeping on the bed of Prophet(sawaw) in the night of Hijrat. ]
